PATIO UMBRELLA WARRANTY
We’ve done our homework, tested our products, and we are confident our products are high quality and exceed the industry standard. We stand behind our products with a warranty that covers manufacturer’s defects – issues that are a result of a manufacturing error on our part. The fabric warranty covers colourfastness (fading) for the length of time noted on the product page, but sewing is not covered (unless it was something that was noticed right away) since that is usually a result of regular wear and tear over time and is easily repaired with a needle and thread or by a local seamstress. For the frame warranty, it covers damage to the functional operation of the umbrella during regular/everyday use. It does not cover regular wear and tear or cosmetic issues (e.g scratches or chips), and it does not cover breakage that is clearly a result of misuse, abuse or wind damage.
As much as we would love to offer a warranty on all breakage of the frame, umbrellas need to be cared for, and unfortunately we can’t control how you use them and care for them! For example, ribs don’t just snap on their own – it takes force to break metal or fiberglass in half. Here are the typical reasons for rib damage:
- Not enough base weight: If the base is too light, the umbrellas will fall over and the impact on the ground damages the frame.
- Leaving them open in storms: High wind events will blow the umbrella over and the impact on the ground damages the frame.
- Purchasing an umbrella that is not designed for the level of winds your patio gets: On each product page, we describe whether the umbrella is suited for mild winds, moderate winds or high winds. If you purchase an umbrella suited for mild winds, but you actually get moderate or high winds on a regular basis, the winds can cause damage to the frame.
- Poor handling: Being dropped by staff, leaving them open overnight and vandals hang off the ribs or mess around with them, etc.
In general, we look at every issue on a case-by-case basis, and consider the issue/damage and length of time you have had the umbrellas. So please get in touch and we’ll see what we can do to rectify the situation. If the issue isn’t covered by the warranty, but you would still like to repair it, we offer a TWO YEAR CRASH REPAIR PROGRAM, where you can purchase replacement fabric covers, parts and/or frames from us at 30-50% off regular prices. The warranty covers damage to the functional operation of the umbrella during regular/everyday use. It does not cover regular wear and tear or cosmetic issues (e.g scratches or chips), and it does not cover breakage that is clearly a result of misuse, abuse or wind damage.
As much as we would love to offer a warranty on all breakage of the frame, umbrellas need to be cared for, and unfortunately we can’t control how you use them and care for them! For example, often people store them in their vehicles and pile things on top of them which causes breakage to the ribs. Some people use their umbrella like a cane and then bend the shaft. Others take them out in a wind storm, don’t hold them facing into the wind, and the umbrellas blows inside out a number of times, eventually breaking the ribs.
